【限界集落での特別な時間】
昨日、三島町で作ったかんじきを眺めていると、あの雪深い間方の集落に思いを馳せることができます。別に泊まったわけでもなく、風の抜ける作業場で半日かけてかんじき作りを教えてもらい、昔から食べられてきた素朴な自家製の蕎麦を食べただけなのですが、それでも特別な時間です。
地方にはすべてを自分たちで作り、土からできないものを商店で買うといった習慣が残ります。自分で創作活動をすることは幸福学の観点からは非常によいことです。
他方で、地元のヤマブドウ細工のかごが10万円から20万円の高値で取引された結果、ヤマブドウが採り尽くされてしまうというありがちな問題も発生しています。持続可能なやり方で地方に目が向く方策を考えていきたいと思います。

【スノーシューより実用的なかんじき】
今日は奥会津の豪雪地帯である三島町に行き、町の中心部から10km以上山に入った最奥の集落でかんじき作りを習いました。かんじきを作るのは二度目ですが、前回はかんじきの機動性の高さを知る前だったのと、今回の目標は人に教えられるようになることなのでモチベーションが違います。
最近高騰気味のスノーシューより実用的なかんじきなのに、多くの集落で作られなくなっているのは寂しい状況です。今後は材料調達など持続可能なかんじき作りの循環を作っていきたいと思います。
昼食は打ちたての自家栽培の蕎麦をいただき、都会人にとってきわめて魅力的な体験にも関わらず、限界集落が抱えるリアルな課題を直視する一日になりました。
