【聞く必要のない声】
昨日は空港へ戻る途中、南阿蘇村の白川水源に寄りました。毎分60トンの湧水の瀬音を聞きながら澄んだ穏やかな清流を眺め涼風にあたると、自然こそが人を幸せにすると実感します。熊本県には1,000以上の湧水群があり生活用水の8割を天然の地下水で賄っています。空港で見た日没も美しく、多くの搭乗客が写真を撮っていました。日々繰り返される当たり前の日常に幸せがあると思います。偽の幸せであるフォーカシングイリュージョンに騙され、足元にある幸福のあり方を考える人は少数です。人は聞く必要のない声を聞き、自身で不幸を感じる理由を作っていると思います。

昨日阿蘇に来ました。機内誌で国際トレイルレースAso Round Trailの記事を読んでいたので、空港からの車中で眺める阿蘇の雄大な山並みがとりわけ美しく見えます。九州6県が見渡せる全長109km、累積標高5,000mのコースの過酷さは、全身泥まみれの選手の写真から分かります。トレイルランニングは1990年代のアメリカで勃興したスポーツですがその原型は日本古来の山岳信仰であり修験道だと思います。トレイルランニングに限らず、マラソンやトライアスロンなどの耐久レースが人気なのは、社会の閉塞感への裏返しのような気がします。

昨日の朝は砧公園まで往復10kmほどジョギングをしました。山とは違い空気が悪く単調な道を走ることは苦痛です。砧公園は都会のオアシスで東名高速と環状八号線に囲まれていると思えない安らぎの場所です。サラリーマン生活を止めたのは2年前の今月末ですが遠い昔に思えます。30代の頃から会社で働くことに違和感を覚えながら退職を躊躇させたのは、仕事に恵まれ待遇も悪くなかったからです。しかしここには盲点があって、所与のものとして給料をもらっていると支出の管理が甘くなります。サラリーマンが課税を逃れることができないのに対して、会社経費が使え実質的な可処分所得は以前とあまり変わらないことに最近気づきました。

【空疎な人間関係を癒す言葉】
昨日電車の中の二人連れが「親友が何人いるか」と話していました。親友という言葉には違和感があって、自分では親友という言葉は使いません。いくら自分が親しいと思っていても相手の思惑を確認することはできません。友達の定義すら曖昧なのに、さらに親しい友達、人によっては大親友という言葉も使います。友人関係をカテゴリー化して、ことさらに強調する必要があるのでしょうか。ぼくの友達の定義は、価値観の共有と意義深い関係性です。さらに親しければ、真夜中に電話ができる、といった条件が追加されるでしょう。親友という言葉に馴染めないのは、空疎な人間関係を癒す言葉に聞こえてしまうからです。

【生産性を削ぐ閉鎖構造】
2年前の今日はペナンにいて、自分史上最長の帰国日以外に予定のない旅行をしていました。日記を見ると、8時からプールサイドのレストランで飲茶の朝食をして、リゾート地のBatu FerringhiまでGrabで行きました。運転する中年女性は毎日午前中はGrabで稼ぎ、午後はアート制作をしていると言います。帰りは途中の市場で食事をしながらジョージタウンまで20km弱をランニングで戻り・・という感じで、好きなときに安い航空券で気楽な旅行ができる自由はサラリーマン時代の憧れでした。個人事業者として独立したのは、サラリーマンで居続けることがたまらなく嫌だったからです。働くことは好きでしたが、本来楽しいはずの仕事をルールで縛り、主体性を奪いつまらないやらされ仕事にする会社生活が息苦しかったのです。日本の生産性が低いのは、自己完結的な閉鎖構造を企業が維持しようとするからだと思います。
