娘が留学して今月で半年になります。悩みや葛藤はあっても本人はホームシックとは無縁のようで、残った親も感傷に浸ることはありません。この半年の最大の発見は手紙というコミュニケーションの素晴らしさに気づいたことです。瞬時に消費される大量のメールより月一度の手紙の方がはるかに多くのことを伝えられる発見は衝撃的です。学校が電子メールやSNSを強制的に絶つ理由がよく分かります。相手だけでなく自分と向き合い心を通わせるのにこれ以上有効なコミュニケーション手段はないと思います。学年全員を一人一校に留学させるという多大な労を厭わず、生徒を送り出す覚悟を持つ学校には感謝しかありません。
