【社会が失ったものを持つ山村】
新甲子温泉から2時間弱のドライブで新潟県境に近い奥会津の豪雪地帯に行けます。昨日は三島町、金山町、昭和村とまわり、山深い集落に今も脈々と暮らしが引き継がれていることを感じました。交通インフラや移動手段がない時代の雪に閉ざされる集落での生活の辛苦を想像することはできません。
しかしそれは人類の半数以上が都市に暮らす現代の視点だと思います。他方で、都市生活者が自然豊かな地での簡素な生活に魅かれる動きがあります。ぼくらがこうした山村に魅かれるのは、いびつな形で消費させるために欲望を生み出してきた社会が失ったものを持っているからだと思います。
写真は昨日行った、三島町にある開湯1200年と言われる早戸温泉の「つるの湯」です。只見川を渡る冷たい風にあたりながら雪景色を眺めていると、頭で考えるようなステレオタイプのリゾートや旅館に行かなくても、心身に付着した世俗の垢を落とすことができそうです。

Tsuluno-yu of Hayato Onsen said to be open hot water 1200 in Mishima-machi where the photograph went yesterday. I seem to be able to drop the secular dirt which attached to mind and body even if I do not go to the stereotypic resort and inn when I look at a snow scene while being exposed to cold wind across Tadami River.

【旅は真冬に限る】
旅はつくづく真冬にするものだと思います。昨夜は奥会津の豪雪地帯、三島町にあるゲストハウスのソコカシコに泊まりました。会津宮下駅に近い古民家を改装した建物は随所にアートが感じられ、古くからある手の込んだ建具と改装により加えられた造形のコントラストが絶妙で、コタツのあるリビングには去りがたい居心地のよさがあります。雪の多い今年は今の時期でも冬景色が美しく、ときおり聞こえる只見線の音も旅情をかきたてます。

今日は会津の豪雪地帯として知られる三島町に行きました。そのもっとも山深い集落に伺いかんじき作りについてお話を伺いました。しんしんと降り続く雪は同じ福島県でも新甲子温泉とは別次元の積雪で、阿武隈源流の雪に慣れていても新鮮な感動があります。炭焼きや農業を中心とした集落へは町の中心部から10kmほど離れていますが、立派な道路が整備されライフラインが確保されています。

山歩きや森林浴をしながら自然のゆらぎのなかでする仕事こそ最高のパフォーマンスを発揮すると思います。有酸素運動をするとドーパミンが分泌され集中力、記憶力、思考力、作業遂行能力がアップします。屋外で日光を浴びることでセロトニンも活性化され心身ともに健康になれます。来年の夏には写真のような環境のオフィスを稼動させたいものです。

東京の冬も寒いのですが、新甲子温泉の冬は氷点下の気温に風が加わります。そこで重宝するのがユニクロのフード付きフリースやズボンです。東京では暑くて着られないほど温かく、機能だけでなくデザインや素材感も悪くありません。
これでは名前だけでやたら高い価格を正当化してきたブランド品の面目は丸つぶれです。ユニクロが破壊したのは価格ではなく、消費者の価値観だと思います。
